Selank is a synthetic 7-residue chemical sequence analog of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory chemical sequence tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail for metabolic stability. It modulates GABA-A receptor activity (anxiolytic), inhibits enkephalinase (extending endogenous opioid chemical sequence half-life), and regulates IL-6 expression. Rapidly crosses the blood-brain barrier via intranasal administration.
